?A Sexy Fairytale and New-ish News?
Quick little check in today
I just wanted to let you know Wendy has released a super sweet book that’s a retelling of Snow White, but it’s sexy mm!
Snow of the White Hills
Once upon a time an imprisoned prince was rescued by seven beautiful men.
For two years, Prince Snow has been locked away in the palace tower. On the night Queen Serena decides to do away with him for good, seven beautiful men with equally tragic pasts appear out of nowhere to rescue him.
Starved for affection, hurt, and in fear for his life, Snow is shown attention and care he has never known. The seven men teach him what real loyalty and love can be.
Doc, their leader, will heal him.
Sleepy, the most devoted, offers to become his love until the end of days.
All yearn to fight to gain Snow his rightful throne.
But Snow cannot justify his new friends putting their lives on the line for him. His heart will break forever if anything happens to Sleepy. Maybe it would be better for all if he just left…
You will love Prince Snow, but you will fall in love with Sleepy!
M/M romance, non-magical fantasy, abduction, imprisonment, rescue, hurt/comfort, and a sweet love story with a happy ending!
Hey! 😉
Hope you all enjoyed your dead guy on a stick day, or weekend, whatever your thing is. My weekend was spent with my bf’s relatives (because holidays are created for introverts to be forced into utter discomfort to endure some pointless ritualistic exercise in tribalism. Totally XD)
Oh, and I have a new (but the same) venture! I decided I’m turning The Paranormal Academy for Troubled Boys into a serial. It’s crazy that the rewrite is just sitting on my website, waiting for me to hurry the fuck up and not have my health get in the way of my writing. It’s killing my motivation and I think the best thing is to start releasing this baby in 50,000 word chunks so that I can feel like I’m accomplishing something and not standing still.
Any betas interested in taking a crack at the first 50,000 words? I’m not rushing to publish if I can get editing help and be able to focus on my current writing as a result. But if I can’t (or I get twitchy like the irrational being I am) I may find myself rushing to get this finished ASAP so I can get back to the rewrite.
I even made a cover to light a fire under my ass. I based it off that original Demon Arms cover, but hopefully with a little more sophistication this time around. 😉
I’m really excited about this. When I first wrote Demon Arms, I wanted it to be a serial but I was super sick at the time. Then when I got to writing Shiny Thief, I had gotten to this place where I felt like I had to conform to the previous book because, well, it was already written. But in doing the rewrite, I’ve kinda unstuck myself from that limited thinking that hit me when I was sick. I want this series to be the best it can be, which means I gotta get past my blocks and limiting beliefs. I know I’m better with smaller goals in this sense that work toward a larger goal, and I think this is going to be the best way for me to get there as I get these books done.
Myer Briggs personality test
Randomness, but I took the Myer Briggs personality test for the first time after seeing it mentioned on a forum I frequent. I actually took it four times total on four different websites (I assume something like this can’t be fully accurate and wanted to see if there would be an average,) and got a weird, in between of INTJ/INFJ. The T and F are right on the line of who wins. I don’t know enough about it to know if that’s, I dunno, psychosis or just people not fitting into ranges. XD It does make me worry I can’t possibly be objective in the world when it comes to social situations if I’m seeing through a small filter of personality that is not shared in the majority of society. Feeling a bit like an alien today.
But anyways, now I’m looking at the personality types thinking this could be a cool way to come up with a new character. To be honest, I usually build characters up from their trauma of choice. (I know, I know, twisted, Sadie >_< PTSD has ruined my mind.) It might be interesting to have an underlying set of personality traits that work together with life circumstances and trauma to help decide how a character will react in a situation. Like a little cheat sheet of how a character might act based on personality traits.
I think it could be fun to try making a different system just for writing certain types of characters.
Okay, randomness done in newsletter form. Hope you all have a fab Monday ^.^ Oh, and yeah, any betas interested, hit me up through email or comment on the website! I’d love the opportunity for help and input.
I would love to beta read for you!!?
Awesome, Jade! I will contact you through the gmail address you used here within the week with details.
So glad to have your help! ^.^
Hello, fellow INFJ!! We are the 3%, the rarest. I have a whole pin board if you have just begun the journey of discovering INFJ and would like to take a peek. It will knock your socks off. I have PTSD, Complex PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder-Quiet, severe chronic depression, severe chronic panic/anxiety attacks, I have ADD and a touch of OCD but I think it is more I am just really fussy in how I like things. And that is just the mental mess LOL physically I am feeling my 49 years (all 89 of them!) I so get how real life and getting sick, kill inspiration! I write fanfic which is the only true joy in my life. I have over 100 rough drafts and 1st and 2nd drafts as well as one idea, a pin, or a few bullets. Real Life is hitting me like a Mack truck and a train and a stampede of bison. Thank heavens it’s spring here in W. NY! So excited about how you are taking things and that it is in a way YOU want! looking forward to it, but take your time. Wishing you the best! Christa
Hi, Christa! It’s so awesome to meet you! <3
Lol, I would love to see your pintrest board. I love creative organization of info O_O So, PTSD! Do you think there is a correlation with INFJs and PTSD, or perhaps what it takes to cope with something so complex could lead to a more INFJ trait strong individual? Or maybe it’s more likely PTSD may take root in such a brain… I really haven’t read enough yet, but I do like the many questions I find myself asking.
Have you gotten treatment for you PTSD, out of curiosity? I went through IFS therapy to deconstruct the false reality and switch off the PTSD. Techniques for curing trauma have really improved over the last 10-20 years, so if you haven’t gotten free, I just want you to know there is definitely hope. I hate the idea of anyone suffering in their own minds. There is this great book… https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0415708230/ that explains how PTSD creates a conceptual reality in the mind. And I know personally, flipping the PTSD switch off helped with a lot of side illnesses from depression, anxiety, and physical pains, agitation, emotional based exhaustion. Stopping the adrenal surge that slowly breaks down into adrenal death has a huge impact. Yeah, I was battling mold toxicity at the same time, and it was hard to distinguish the different symptoms, but it was much easier to figure out the mold toxicity and mold induced Parkinson’s once I got my trauma brain unraveled.
No judgment if this doesn’t interest you, btw. I know how freaking alarming dealing with even thinking about removing PTSD can feel. It took ego death for me to break free, and that can be terrifying on its own, never mind what it took to get me into a therapist’s office specifically for PTSD. @_@ No pressure. I just want the info known in case you didn’t know the option was there.
Speaking of having a list of illnesses as things in common XD I watched this youtube vid about INTJ/INFJs, and the guy had suggested that people with Ni (hero) were more likely to get rare diseases. Any clue what that is based on if you’ve heard? Maybe genetic— I’ve yet to hear anyone say the personality traits share genetic traits though— or maybe more people with that Ni trait are more likely to have the skills to go down the rabbit hole researching and diagnosing until they get the actual name of what’s wrong with them? It seemed like such a bizarre correlation and he didn’t really explain a damn thing, just mentioned it and moved on.
I’m so sorry your body isn’t being agreeable to the joys that can be in living. I know what a frustration that is (understatement of the millennium.) At least you’re still you enough to enjoy what you do enjoy and aren’t stopping your creative endeavors. I hope the warmer weather is going to make things easier. What kind of fanfics do you write?!
Sorry I’m all questions. It’s just super cool to meet you. =^.^=
I found your comment of the dead guy on a stick offensive–I am not especially religious, but its not cool to make fun of others religion, whether or not you agree with it. You just lost a reader.
Hey there, Barbara. I questioned whether it was worth responding to you. Whether it was worth even allowing you to have a voice on my website that might alienate other readers with your judgmental, rigid narrative over a quirky turn of phrase. But, to put it bluntly, this shit pisses me off, so here we are.
You think I’m obligated to mirror you. You have an underlying belief that I am supposed to respect the things you respect, and that I must mirror the ways you would express those feelings when we have never met before. You do not know me and I do not know you, but you assume I’m supposed to reflect your belief system instead of respecting that I have a belief system of my own. Well, I am under no such delusions.
Religion is not alive. Religion is not real. It does not feel pain. Something that is not real doesn’t deserve anything. It does not deserve my belief, and it does not deserve my respect. It does not require me to relinquish my free thought and autonomy so that you can feel mirrored in your belief systems.
People are real. People feel pain. People are deserving of basic human rights and respect. I readily respect people who believe in things— even if what they believe in is pure nonsense— but that doesn’t mean I will allow anyone to disrespect me so they can place a non-living entity above my rights of free thought and expression. I am a free, thinking, living being and religion can never match that. I do not relinquish my rights to religion. If religion has an issue with me, it can speak for itself.
Don’t bully me with morality. Don’t try to manipulate me with financial retribution. Don’t try to shame me by suggesting I’m being bigoted because I didn’t speak about Easter the way you think it should have been addressed. I’m sorry that you are offended, but it is not my responsibility to decide how you interpret a joke about a religion I was once a part of. I hope you learn to stop placing your emotions as responsibilities in other people’s hands in a manipulation to get your way. Your emotions are your problem, no one else’s.
Re: INTJ or INFJ … Yes, it’s certainly possible to be on the edge, sometimes exhibiting more T, sometimes more F. The T/F is all about how you make decisions, particularly, but not exclusively, moral decisions. Ts use principles, logic and analysis to decide what is right/wrong. They might write up pro/con lists. Fs use feelings. that is, your sense of how you feel about a situation and your sense about how others involved might feel. Suppose you see someone is speeding. If your first thought is, “speeding is illegal, he’s breaking the law, and he should get a ticket” you might be a T. If your first thought is, “that guy’s in a hurry, I hope everything is alright” or, “that jerk is in too much of a hurry, he’s gonna kill someone,” you might be an F. If you’re in the middle, you use both faculties fairly evenly. You might even be conflicted as your head gives you different answers than your heart. If life were Star Trek, Spock was a classic T, Kirk was a classic F.
Ah, I could see Kirk as being impulsive with emotions. XD
Okay, so what do you think about T and F being on different sides of the same scale? I’m trying to figure out the science behind the test (of which there isn’t a ton,) but I get that we as humans conceptualize before having the tech to actually follow through and discover the why of things. So why would it be normal to either think logically, or feel impulsively, for lack of better terms? And this might come from just me where I am well aware I can think and feel and both have value in my decision making process. It seems bizarre to put them at opposite ends of a spectrum. If anything, I would think all 8 individual traits should have a meter of their own where you measure how much of each trait you’re prone to using, instead of setting them at opposites.
Lol, I’ve been thinking about all this way too much lately. It’s like a grain of sand in my shoe and I can’t get it out. It’s interesting, but it doesn’t quite add up in other aspects, and it’s hard to take at face value. I think the variable of tests are a part of that issue, the way one interprets the questions, if they’re thinking in the future, or their ideal when answering the question verse the reality of it. There was an amazing bit of neuroscience that showed that we perceive ourselves to have free will even when someone is physically hacking into our brains and making choices for us. We perceive we’ve made a decision when our bodies are already in motion, doing its impulse, and our rationalization is just catching up. Impulse verse mindfullness, perception verse reality. Our actions aren’t necessarily what we perceive them to be, but they are still our actions in the end…
(And Riker strikes me as somewhere near the middle, sometimes more T, sometimes more F).
I am definitely game to be a beta. Please pick me as one of your betas for Demon Arms.
Absolutely, mel. I’ll email you with details ideally this week. Thanks so much for helping out! <3
Absolutely LOVE the cover!! I just recently moved and don’t have my computer hooked up yet, but would be super happy to beta read for you! I need a couple more days to get my sh*t together…? (as someone who grew up in the church, I still found dead guy on a stick funny) Hugs!!
Hey Blaine! Hell, yeah you can be a beta reader! I’m still getting the final manuscript prepared, so no worries. And it’s not like I’m in a super huge rush (even if I love to just rush everything at this point. XD)
Lol, me and my family have been using dead-guy-on-a-stick for years now. It’s a very concrete perspective of what is presented as untouchable to ever question. I think working in a church and seeing that priests were just men set my perspective there. People being people, trying to help each other. I would love to see religion in that view instead of the mythos that’s saturated with twisted morality and ethics.
I’d love to be a beta! I love reading and am great at recognizing spelling mistakes, and often notice grammar mistakes. Been times I can’t read a book because of too many mistakes.
Tabatha, so sorry I didn’t respond sooner! I thought I had, but I’ve been so distracted getting the manuscript ready. @_@ You’re totally in for beta reading. I’ll email you once I’m done (I’m @ a week behind on this. XD) So sorry, but I look forward to your input!
